About SCYC

WHO WE ARE:

The Starke County Youth Club, Inc. (SCYC) is innovative and responsive to the unique needs of Starke County. As a not for profit, we provide behavior guidance and promote the health, social, educational, vocational and character development of boys and girls. SCYC operates three after-school programs, in Knox, Oregon-Davis, and North Judson. This service is available five days a week, for a mere $10 per child, per year! Our board, staff and volunteers believe every child deserves a safe and enriching environment with positive role models. We achieve this by providing:

Education: to build on school day curriculum with homework help, tutoring, and academic enrichment.
Recreation: to encourage healthy lifestyles, positive choices, fair play and good sportsmanship.
Socialization: where children can learn healthy interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
Enrichment: for exposure to art, theatre, music, foreign language, technology and culture, with emphasis on personal and character development including vocational and life skill education.
Special events: field trips, guest speakers and community service projects to connect children with the world around them and to begin a lifelong habit of giving back to their community.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

The Starke County Youth Club, Inc. accomplishes goals with the help of the surrounding community. In order to address the needs of our youth population SCYC looks to local businesses, organizations and private donors to make our programs work.

Whether that help comes in the form of volunteer or professional staff, generous financial or material donations; each resource is critical.
